In this chapter, we will learn how to Add Pages in WordPress. Adding pages is similar to adding posts, but pages are used for static content that does not change frequently.
Follow the steps below to add pages in WordPress:
Step (1) − Go to your WordPress dashboard and click on Pages → Add New, as shown in the following screenshot.

Step (2) − The editor page will be displayed, as shown in the following screenshot. It contains two tabs: Visual and Text. You can add content using either tab. Here, we will focus on adding text using the Visual editor.

The following fields are available on the editor page of Add New Page:
Title − Used to enter the title of the page, which will be displayed on the website.
Permalink − Displays the page URL below the title. The URL is automatically generated based on the page title.

WYSIWYG Editor − This is a “What You See Is What You Get” editor, similar to a word processor, allowing you to easily create and format the content of your page.
The following options are available in the WYSIWYG Editor:
- Bold − Makes the selected text bold.
- Italic − Italicizes the selected text.
- Strikethrough − Adds a line through the selected text.
- Bullet List − Creates a bulleted list.
- Numbered List − Creates a numbered list.
- Blockquote − Formats the selected text as a quote.
- Horizontal Line − Inserts a horizontal line between content.
- Align Left − Aligns the content to the left side of the page.
- Align Right − Aligns the content to the right side of the page.
- Justify − Aligns the content evenly on both sides.
- Add Link − Adds a hyperlink to your content. When you click this option, the following window will be displayed.
The following fields are available in the Insert/Edit Link option:
- URL − Enter the web address you want to link to.
- Link Text − Enter the text that will be displayed as the clickable link.
- Open link in a new window/tab − Check this option if you want the link to open in a new tab or window.
- Or link to existing content − Allows you to link to an existing page or post by selecting it from the list. Once selected, the link will automatically appear in the URL field, as shown in the following screenshot.
- Remove Link − Removes the link added to the selected text or content.
- Read More Tag − Inserts a Read More tag into your page.
- Toolbar Toggle − Displays an additional set of toolbar options when clicked, as shown in the following image.
- Paragraph − Allows you to select headings or paragraph styles from the dropdown.
- Underline − Underlines the selected text.
- Justify − Aligns the content evenly on both sides.
- Text Color − Changes the color of selected text.
- Paste as Text − Pastes content without formatting.
- Clear Formatting − Removes formatting from the selected content.
- Special Character − Inserts special characters into your content.
- Increase Indent − Increases the indent of the page.
- Decrease Indent − Decreases the indent of the page.
- Undo − Reverses the most recent editing command.
- Redo − Opposite of undo, restores the most recent editing command.
Text Insertion
Used to write and add content to your page.
Publish
Allows you to publish the page so it becomes visible to users on the website.
Page Attributes
This section lets you choose a parent page and set the order of pages, helping you organize your site structure.
Featured Image
Allows you to add an image to the page, which is often displayed as a thumbnail or main visual depending on the theme.
