WordPress – Background
In this chapter, we will learn about setting background images, background colors, and background opacity in WordPress.
Step (1) − Go to Appearance → Background.

Step (2) − The following page will appear, displaying the Background Image section.

Step (3) − If no background image is selected, click on Select Image to choose one. The following page will be displayed.

Here, you can upload images using two options:
- Upload Files
- Media Library
Step (4) − Upload Files − When you click on Upload Files, the following screen will be displayed. Select the image files from your computer, and once satisfied, click on Choose Image.

Step (5) − Media Library − When you click on Media Library, the following page will appear. Here, you can select images that are already uploaded to your WordPress media library, allowing you to choose existing images directly.

After selecting an image, a few options will appear on the right side:
- Edit Image − Clicking on this option takes you to another page where you can adjust the image scale, dimensions, crop the image, and manage thumbnail settings. As shown in the following image, make the necessary changes, click Save, and then click Update.

Delete Permanently − Click this button if you want to remove the image from the media library.
URL − Enter the image URL in this field.
Title − Edit the image title here if needed.
Caption − Add a brief explanation about the image.
Alt Text − Provide alternative text for the image to improve accessibility and search visibility.
Description − Add a short description of the image.
Step (6) − On the same page, go to Colors → Background Color and choose your desired background color. Note that Background Opacity may not be available for all themes, as theme customization options vary depending on the theme.
