WordPress – Edit Users

In this chapter, we will learn how to edit users in WordPress.

Follow the steps below to edit users:

Step (1) − Go to Users → All Users.

Step (2) − A list of all users will be displayed.

There are two more tabs available on the toolbar:

  • Administrator − Displays the list of all administrators.
  • Subscriber − Displays the list of all subscribers.

When you click on the Change role to dropdown box, a list of roles will appear, as shown in the previous screen:

  • Subscriber − A user who can only manage their own profile.
  • Contributor − A user who can write and manage their own posts but cannot publish them.
  • Author − A user who can publish and manage their own posts.
  • Editor − A user who can publish and manage posts, including those created by other users.
  • Administrator − A user who has full access to all administrative features of the website.

To change a user’s role, select the checkbox next to the username, choose the desired role from the dropdown, and click the Change button.

Step (3) − Click on the Edit option (as shown in the following screen) to modify the user details.

Step (4) − The Edit User page will be displayed. Here, you can modify all the fields as needed and then click on the Update User button to save the changes.
