WordPress – Reset Password

In this chapter, we will learn how to reset your WordPress passwords. There are two main methods to do this:

  • Through the User section
  • Using the “Lost your password” option

Resetting Password via the User Section

Follow these steps to set a password through the User section:

Step 1:
Log in to your WordPress admin panel. Then, from the dashboard, navigate to Users → All Users.

Step 2:
After clicking All Users, a page listing users will appear. Select the user whose password you want to reset and click Edit.

When you click on Edit, the corresponding user profile page will be displayed.

Now, let’s look at resetting your password using the “Lost your password” option.

Step 3:
On this page, enter your new password (it should contain at least 7 characters). Once you have set your new password, click on Update Profile.

Step 4:
When you try to log in to your WordPress admin panel and forget your password, a message will appear on the screen prompting you to reset it.

Step 5:
Click on Lost your password? A new page will appear. Enter your email address and click on Get New Password.

Step 6:
After clicking, a message will appear stating that a link has been sent to the email address you provided.

Step 7:
Go to your email inbox, open the WordPress Site Password Reset email, and click on the provided link.

Step 8:
Enter your new password, confirm it if required, and then click on Reset Password.
