WordPress – Widget Management
In this chapter, we will learn about Widget Management in WordPress. Widgets are small blocks that perform specific functions and give you control over the design and structure of your WordPress theme.
Some key features of widgets include:
- They help you add content and features to your site.
- They can be easily dragged and dropped into widget areas.
- Widgets vary from theme to theme and are not the same for every theme.
Step (1) − Go to Appearance → Widgets.
Step (2) − The following screen will appear, displaying the available widgets.

The following sections appear on the page:
- Available Widgets − Widgets in this section can be added to your main sidebar or other widget areas.
- Inactive Sidebar (Not Used) − Widgets here are not active and can be removed permanently from the widget list.
- Inactive Widgets − Widgets removed from the sidebar are stored here with their settings intact, so you can reuse them later.
- Sidebar Main − Any widget added here will appear on your site.
- Manage in Customizer − This option takes you back to the Theme Customizer page for managing widgets visually.
Step (3) − Drag and drop a widget into the Sidebar Main. Any widget added here will be displayed on your site.
